Words of the Wild - Scottish Wildlife Trust

For the Scottish Wildlife Trust's 60th anniversary, we at Art of Birdie created a series of illustrations for their 'Words of the Wild' campaign. This project celebrated Scotland's rich storytelling tradition and its deep connection to nature.

The Challenge
Our challenge was to create visuals that could capture the essence of Scotland's diverse wildlife and landscapes while also evoking the power of storytelling. The illustrations needed to be versatile enough to be used across various media, including digital platforms, print materials, and event decorations.

Our Approach
We drew inspiration from Scotland's varied ecosystems, from the rugged hills of Ben Mor Coigach to the mudflats of Montrose Basin. Each illustration was crafted to tell a story, blending elements of wildlife, landscape, and literary tradition. We used a mix of digital techniques to create a style that was both contemporary and evocative of traditional Scottish art.

The Impact
Our illustrations played a crucial role in the campaign's success, helping to engage the public with Scotland's natural heritage through the lens of storytelling. They were featured in a nature writing competition, a podcast series, and special events across Scotland, contributing to increased public engagement with the Scottish Wildlife Trust's conservation efforts.
